How to Care and Maintain Your Tank

How much water should be in my ClearWater Tank?

Always ensure that your ClearWater Tank is at least 10% full. This helps maintain the structural integrity of your tank.

What is the Tank Liner made from?

Each liner is engineered from polypropylene high strength fabric with a durable layered coating supported by a high strength woven base cloth. This gives the cloth unique flexibility and strength.

Each side of the cloth is then coated with a durable layered coating to make it 100% waterproof, providing a liner that is unbeatable in strength, durability and waterproofness for the toughest Australian conditions.

It is BPA-free and Phthalate free and AS/NZS 4020 Approved meeting the global safety and food standards for the secure storage of clean, safe, chemical free water storage.

What preparation is needed before tank install?

Site preparation is the responsibility of the client.

A pad of fine sand is recommended but crusher dust can be used with aggregate size of 5mm or less.

  1. The pad must be 2m in diameter (1 meter each side) larger than your tank, and levelled to + or – 25mm, with a depth of 150mm. It must be free from any sharp objects, sticks, stones, etc and vegetation.
  2. Sites with a slight slope, the pad needs to compensate slope to guarantee it is level. If site is to be cut in to create a level base, a drain is required to be dug into the slope above the pad to allow water runoff to be diverted around the tank.
  3. Water must be available to be placed into the tank immediately after construction (supplied by the
purchaser). This is to stabilise the liner placement.
  4. There must be adequate access to the site for a 4wd and trailer, keeping in mind soil and weather
    conditions.
  5. Kindly Note: If the pad site is not suitable, and our installers have to leave and re schedule your tank, you may incur additional charges to cover costs of wages, travel and possible accommodation.
Why choose a ClearWater corrugated steel rainwater tank?

Corrugated steel is one of the oldest and cheapest form of rainwater tanks. The material used is long-lasting and fireproof, and is recommended for larger rainwater tanks.

However, corrugated steel can be prone to corrosion so needs a polyethylene protective lining for longevity.

ClearWater Tanks feature a corrugated steel tank with polyfabric liner and geotextile underlay for extra protection.

What is the purpose of the optional Geotextile Underlay?

Our optional, Geotextile Underlay is a non-woven, needle-punched geotextile made from polyester.

Our underlay is manufactured for pavement stabilisation, subgrade / subsoil separation, slope stabilisation and liner protection. The underlay functions as reinforcement to protect your liner.

The natural UV resistance of polyester ensures the material can withstand harsh Australian environments. The geotextile underlay provides superior technical performance.

Due to high levels of elongation, the product will adapt to deformations within the sub-base reducing the risk of damage to your liner during installation and into the future.

Zincalume® steel vs Galvanised Steel

ZINCALUME® steel is made from a combination of aluminium, zinc and silicon, making a steel that is a durable.

With a lifetime of almost four times that of galvanised steel … ZINCALUME® steel is a product that is built to last.

ZINCALUME® steel is tough and resistant to any scratches during installation. It’s an environmentally friendly product and is recyclable.
